We are accepting a cover letter and resume and suggest you compose a philosophy of education statement for our Preschool Lead Teacher.

Leadership and Management:

  • Establish and oversee the daily operations of the classrooms you are assigned to
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the program being offered
  • Participate in team meetings with the assistance and guidance of the Preschool Director; Curriculum Director, and admin staff
  • Research and maintain current best practices in ECE
  • Thoughtful and creative implementation of Reggio Emilia, Project Approach work
  • Communicate the Vision and Mission of Voyagers’ to staff, parents and community members.

In The Classroom

  • Oversee the organization and aesthetic of each classroom environment
  • Plan and implement effective instruction and assessment driven by student inquiry and aligned with Voyagers’ Philosophy
  • Provide comprehensive projects to stimulate learning in literacy, numeracy, science, global studies, and technology
  • Deliver creative, engaging, and stimulating instruction driven by curriculum maps and class descriptions
  • Lead the development of classroom cultures that foster relationships, student learning, student inquiry, and critical thinking
  • Implement restorative practices to address conflict
  • Monitor students indoors and outdoors
  • Seek, reflect, learn, and adjust based on feedback.

Ongoing Tasks

  • Compose daily online communication posts and other correspondence
  • Maintain individual student portfolios using Seesaw
  • Produce classroom documentation via video and audio recordings, photography, and written form
  • Maintain systems and routines for tracking students’ developing interest in subject matter and adjust planning accordingly
  • Compose and update regularly curriculum maps, class description, and student narratives
  • Maintain a minimum of three-days of substitute plans
  • Facilitate Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
  • Compose at least one professional article of approximately 500 words monthly.
  • Assist in identifying developmental concerns and refer children for further evaluation when needed
  • Assist in pursuing and maintaining accreditation.

Professional Development

  • Collaborate with all school staff, parents and interns
  • Coach and demonstrate best practices for interns, student teachers, associate teachers, and aides
  • Explore innovative teaching theories and practices through ongoing professional development
  • Attend and present at professional development workshops and conferences
  • Join professional organizations and remain cognizant of new trends and approaches to promoting preschool programs
  • When appropriate, introduce new trends and approaches to the Lower School and Curriculum Director
  • Participate in formal evaluations of staff and internal staff PD days.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in ECE required
  • Bachelor degree in ECE desired
  • Masters degree in education preferred
  • Experience teaching in a progressive, constructivist, Reggio Inspired ECE program welcomed
