Admissions at Voyagers’

Choosing a school is deeply personal.

At Voyagers’, admissions is not a performance-driven process or a transactional decision. It is a thoughtful exploration of whether a child and family will feel known, challenged, supported, and connected within our community.

We invite families to visit, ask questions, spend time in the environment, and consider whether Voyagers’ feels aligned with the kind of educational experience they hope their child will have.

Every child learns differently. Every family arrives with a different story, set of experiences, hopes, questions, and concerns.

Some families come to Voyagers’ seeking greater intellectual depth, flexibility, creativity, or meaningful challenge. Others are searching for a calmer and more relational learning environment where their child can rebuild confidence, reconnect with curiosity, and feel genuinely understood.

We believe strong school communities are built through thoughtful alignment between students, families, educators, and philosophy. Our admissions process is designed to help both the family and the school determine whether Voyagers’ feels like the right fit.

Families are not simply enrolling in a program, but entering a relationship-centered learning community where children are known deeply by the adults beside them.

Our admissions process is intentionally personal, thoughtful, and relationship-centered.

Step 1: Connect

Families begin by scheduling a tour or conversation so we can learn more about your child, answer questions, and introduce you to the Voyagers’ approach.

Step 2: Visit

Families spend time exploring the environment, meeting educators, observing classrooms, and experiencing the rhythm and culture of the school community.

Step 3:Reflect

We encourage thoughtful reflection from both the family and the school as we consider educational fit, readiness, and alignment.

Step 4: Enroll

If there is mutual alignment, families are guided through enrollment, scheduling, tuition, and next steps with clarity and support.

If you’d like more context about our values and origins, Our Story offers a deeper look.

We understand that every family’s financial picture is different, and we approach tuition conversations with discretion, respect, and care.

Voyagers’ offers Flexible Tuition for K–12 families in an effort to make our program accessible to a broader range of students while preserving the depth, quality, and sustainability of the educational experience.

Flexible Tuition is based on demonstrated financial need and available resources. Families are encouraged to begin the conversation openly and honestly if tuition may otherwise present a barrier to enrollment.

Preschool tuition operates separately from Flexible Tuition and reflects the specialized staffing, environment, ratios, and programming within our early childhood community.

The Naples Act

Voyagers’ Community School is an independent, accredited school designed for students who benefit from a small, relational, highly responsive learning environment, grounded in project-based and inquiry-driven education.

We are not a special education school and do not operate self-contained therapeutic or behavioral programs. However, we are often able to support students whose learning profiles require greater flexibility, personalization, emotional safety, and meaningful relationship-based learning than traditional environments can provide.

Some students we consider for enrollment may experience challenges related to anxiety, school refusal, executive functioning differences, autism spectrum profiles, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or social-emotional regulation.

In some circumstances, New Jersey public school districts may determine that a student’s needs are best supported within an independent school environment through a Naples placement. When this occurs, Voyagers’ may be considered when there is strong alignment between the student’s needs, the family’s goals, and the nature of our learning community.

Our Approach

Individualized Support & Naples Placement

For some students, meaningful access to learning requires individualized support beyond tuition alone. In these cases, Voyagers’ may serve as an out-of-district placement through the New Jersey Naples Act.

A Naples placement allows a public school district to place a student in an approved private school when the district is unable to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) within its own setting.

When a Naples placement is approved, the public school district remains financially responsible for tuition and agreed-upon services, supports are delivered in alignment with the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), and the student attends Voyagers’ as a full member of the school community.

Who this may be appropriate for?

Naples placements are typically considered for students who benefit from small, highly relational learning environments, individualized pacing, embedded executive functioning support, emotionally responsive classrooms, and greater connection, engagement, and belonging within school life.

Placement decisions are made by the student’s public school district and typically involve current evaluations, documentation, and collaborative discussion.

How Support Works at Voyagers’

At Voyagers’, support is integrated into the rhythm of daily learning rather than separated from it.

Students may receive:

  • individualized or small-group academic support
  • embedded executive functioning and organizational scaffolds
  • social-emotional support within the classroom community
  • collaboration with outside specialists, therapists, consultants, or district providers

Voyagers’ does not operate through a rigid “program model.” Supports are developed thoughtfully around the student, in partnership with families and professionals, and evolve as needs change over time.

Partnership Between Families, Districts & School

Families often begin exploring Naples placement when they recognize that their child’s current school environment is no longer supporting meaningful growth, engagement, or well-being.

Voyagers’ may meet with families to discuss fit and readiness, provide information about our learning environment and educational approach, and collaborate with districts during the evaluation and placement process.

Final placement decisions, service determinations, and funding responsibilities remain with the student’s public school district.

Important Considerations

Naples placements vary by district and are not guaranteed.

Additional services beyond tuition may be necessary depending on the student’s learning profile, IEP, and level of support required.

Voyagers’ maintains thoughtful boundaries around the scope of services we provide in order to preserve the integrity, sustainability, and relational nature of our learning environment.

Our goal is always alignment — between the student, the family, the school, and the supports necessary for meaningful growth.

Next Steps

If you are exploring a Naples placement for your child, we encourage you to schedule a conversation with our admissions team, share relevant evaluations or documentation, and ask questions about fit, readiness, process, and support.

Choosing the right educational environment is deeply personal. We are committed to approaching these conversations with honesty, clarity, and care.

Common questions families ask as they explore Voyagers’.

Fit and Philosophy

Students who thrive at Voyagers’ are curious, thoughtful, and capable learners who benefit from strong relationships, flexibility, and meaningful work. Many of our students have felt constrained, misunderstood, or disengaged in more traditional school settings and are seeking a learning environment that honors their individuality and pace.

Voyagers’ may not be the right fit for families seeking a conventional school model with large class sizes, standardized pacing, frequent testing, or competitive ranking. We believe clarity serves everyone best and encourage families to choose environments that align with their values and expectations.

Voyagers’ is intentionally small, relationship-driven, and project-based. Learning is organized around inquiry, real-world experiences, and deep engagement rather than rigid curricula or one-size-fits-all instruction. Students are known well, supported as whole people, and encouraged to take ownership of their learning.

Admissions Process

Admissions at Voyagers’ is a conversation, not a competition. Families typically begin by scheduling a tour, meeting our team, and learning more about our philosophy and programs. From there, we work together to determine whether Voyagers’ is a good mutual fit.

Yes. Voyagers’ offers rolling admissions when space is available. Because our programs are intentionally small, openings may occur at different times throughout the year.

Tuition & Affordability

Tuition reflects the individualized, relationship-centered nature of our programs. Because we intentionally maintain small class sizes and high levels of support, tuition varies by program and level.

Flexible Tuition is Voyagers’ commitment to making our programs accessible to families with a range of financial circumstances. Through this model, tuition is adjusted based on a family’s financial context while preserving the integrity of our learning environment.

Families may apply for Flexible Tuition as part of the admissions process. Our team will guide you through the steps and answer any questions along the way.

Yes. Tuition is reviewed annually and may change to reflect program costs, staffing, and sustainability. Families are notified in advance of any changes.

Voyagers’ follows a school-year calendar with defined start and end dates, holidays, and breaks. Daily schedules vary by program and age group, reflecting developmental needs and learning goals.

Voyagers’ prioritizes meaningful feedback, reflection, and growth over traditional grading. Documentation and transcripts are provided as appropriate, particularly for middle and high school students, and we work closely with families to support future transitions.

Growth & Transitions

We support students and families thoughtfully through transitions, whether to other schools, college pathways, vocational programs, or alternative routes. Because students are known well, guidance is individualized and aligned with each learner’s goals and readiness.

High school students engage in purposeful learning that builds independence, self-awareness, and real-world readiness. Planning is collaborative and individualized, focusing on next steps that make sense for each student rather than a single prescribed path.

Support & Alignment

Voyagers’ is designed to be responsive and flexible. Through small class sizes, close relationships, and individualized instruction, we support a wide range of learners. Our focus is on understanding how each student learns best and creating conditions where they can thrive.

No — and that’s intentional. Voyagers’ is best for families who value relationships, flexibility, and depth over standardization and competition. Our admissions process is designed to help families make thoughtful, aligned choices.
