On Tuesday, The Voyagers’ Outdoor Students started to work their way around the new property with our outdoor scavenger hunt (see the download below for a copy). This activity had students catching bugs, using field guides to identify trees and using the map of the property to locate different ecosystems. Rain may have been falling but everyone kept a positive attitude and enjoyed being outside at our new location.
In the next few weeks, students will be studying academic subjects in areas such as freshwater species, watershed ecology, mycology and wildlife studies. Before all of that can begin, we need to understand the environment in which we study. This scavenger hunt allowed students to fire up their 5 senses and get to know the areas in which they will be studying this school year.

Amazing things can happen when you give a student a net, a set of thought provoking questions and a camera. Nature is out there, and it takes a very small amount of time for our students to find it. A lot of the pictures you will see have provided many sparks of inspiration for our students to start their blog writing for their Literacy class. Click on over to the CHIRP! page to see what our students are writing about. Enjoy the pictures from our first few days of the Outdoor Program.
